Wes Dorton - President/Founder
President and Founder of Athlete Advantage, Coach Dorton has a unique blend of expertise both on and off the field. Having a coaching background coupled with successful business experience is what gives Athlete Advantage athletes the best chance of getting to the next level. While coaching at Irmo High School in Columbia, SC, Coach Dorton noticed talented student athletes being overlooked in the recruiting process, so began promoting his own sons to college scouts. His oldest signed with Appalachian State finished is collegiate career at Emory & Henry, while his younger signed as a two sport athlete with Stevenson University for football and lacrosse. Soon other players and sports followed.
Coach Dorton played football at Midlothian High, attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA., with a Physical Education/Coaching background. Before moving to South Carolina in 1994, he played Semi-Pro football for the Lynchburg Jaguars of the Mason Dixon Athletic Conference. Coach Dorton has also founded and run several successful businesses in his career and has earned many honors and awards.
Nathan Dorton played football for three seasons at Appalachian State, and one season at Emory & Henry College. He finished his college career with 15 catches 131 yards 2 TDs and was also was a member of the Low Country Team in the inagural College All Star Bowl in 2013.
Dorton Graduated from Irmo High School in 2009 where he was an All-Area, All-Region, and All-State honorable mention wide receiver. Dorton was elected team captain for the 2008 season as a senior, and was selected to the SCADA North-South All Star game where he had 1 catch for 38 yards. In his career at Irmo, Dorton hauled in 44 receptions for 714 yards and 7 TDs.
